Southeast of Whangapoua Beach, this 1-hr return bush and beach walk includes a walk to Raukawa pā site, an old tramway line, and a window rock.
Opera Point offers a walk on an old tramway line where there used to be Craig’s Sawmill (built in 1862); a concrete channel remains and you may notice a fig tree left from the days when this was a busy area.
There is also a poorly formed, overgrown, unmarked track about 15m from the start of the walk that goes up into the bush to pa site with views to Matarangi; the main track to the beach offers views of Whangapoua’s harbour.
Toilet in Whangapoua village centre and at the boat ramp.
