This quaint little gold digger town looks back on a turbulent history during the ‘Boom & Bust’ era of early gold mining. Explore early NZ pioneering and gold mining history in original settings.

Our local experts will share their intricate knowledge of our town and unique history with passion and a touch of humour.

Track Description: 74 Kapanga Rd, Coromandel  – the guided tour starts in the historic Samuel James Reserve in front of Coromandel Town Information Centre.

Learn about the heritage of Coromandel Town on this 90-minute return walking tour of the town centre. Your knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide will help you explore the nooks and crannies of our special town, talk about some of our old buildings, Maori history, kauri logging, the gold rush, the big fire of 1895, and much more.

This walk is suitable for people of all abilities, wheelchairs, buggies and strollers. Tour cost is $20 per person, children free, minimum two adults, departure times vary and private tours for groups can be arranged.

Tours available in both the morning and afternoons. Varies due to seasons. Bookings essential.
