Kaipawa Trig Track north end

The north end of this track connects Kennedy Bay and Whangapoua roads through regenerating native bush and past a trig that is 1 hr from Kennedy Bay Rd and 1½ hrs from the Whangapoua Lookout.

Track Description: Park at the Kennedy Bay Rd summit, in the carpark for Tokatea Lookout; 7 km northeast of town (no dogs) – 5-hr/12-km return.

This track connects Kennedy Bay and Whangapoua roads through regenerating native bush and past a trig that is 1 hr from Kennedy Bay Rd and 1½ hrs from the Whangapoua Lookout.

The north half of Kaipawa Trig Track is mostly unformed, with steep, rough, and muddy sections, and views of town and the gulf.

Park at the Tokatea Lookout carpark and walk up the cell tower access road about 20 min/1 km to access the track.

This track is also accessible from the top of Success Track on Main St and the summit of Whangapoua Rd.
