Activity Description:

Step into the pottery studio where Barry Brickell, New Zealand’s most celebrated potter, first began shaping Driving Creek’s story, and try your hand at wheel throwing with native Coromandel clay.

In this hands-on 1.5 hour class, our professional potters will guide you through centring clay on the wheel and shaping it into a piece of your own. No experience necessary, and every class is capped at just six people, so you’ll get plenty of personal guidance. Everything you need, from clay and tools to an apron to keep you clean, is provided.

Like everything at Driving Creek, your class supports far more than pottery. Surrounded by regenerating native forest, you’ll be part of the ongoing work to protect this land, restore habitats and give species like kiwi and native gecko a place to thrive.

Want to take a piece home? Have your creation glazed, fired, and either collected or delivered, ready in three to five weeks. It’s a great all weather activity for beginners and experienced potters alike, book online and get your hands dirty!
