Roadtrip to Coromandel town

It’s really easy to get here, and it’ll only take you 2.5 hours from the centres of Auckland, Hamilton or Tauranga.

Once you have passed the township of Thames you can set your clocks to ‘Coromandel time‘ a local expression for the laid back culture which encourages a relaxed atmosphere that is better understood once experienced.

From Thames it’s about an hours travel along  the coast. A picturesque and pleasant coastal road winds its way up the western side of the Peninsula. Enjoy stunning views with many photo opportunities.

We can recommend you stop 10 minutes past Thames at Waiomu Beach Cafe for excellent coffee and refreshments.

 No InterCity bus services available from Thames to Coromandel Town. Unfortunatly Intercity only travel to Thames and from there you will need to consider other options to travel to Coromandel Town.
